I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked this up. All the "buzz" made me curious. This was a great read about a non-traditional family in the South in 1964. Many different themes including feminine spirituality (don't let it scare you!), civil rights, and beekeeping. Given these themes, I'd never have created the characters and story line the author produced. When the story ended, I was sad to see my new friends go.
